T.N. CM Stalin inaugurates Sify’s AI-ready data centre campus in Siruseri
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Thursday (April 17, 2025) inaugurated Sify Infinit Spaces Limited’s AI-ready data centre campus in Siruseri.
This is South India’s largest AI-ready data centre campus, which has an eventual capacity of 130 MW. It is also the only data centre in India with an on-site open cable landing station, the company said.
Sify representatives said they aspire to power the Siruseri data centre entirely with renewable energy and manage it using sustainable building management practices.
“With our cumulative investment now crossing ₹10,000 crore from an initial commitment of ₹2,500 crore, we are not only building digital infrastructure but also creating an ecosystem of opportunity. We envision generating employment for 10,000 people — direct and indirect — as this facility ramps up,” Raju Vegesna, Chairman and Managing Director of Sify Technologies Limited, said.
This data centre isn’t just infrastructure — it’s a strategic digital gateway for enterprises and governments aiming to harness AI, cloud, and high-speed data solutions, he said, adding: “We’re proud to support Tamil Nadu’s digital ambitions and to be part of India’s data-driven future.”
The facility will serve as a critical enabler for AI workloads and digital-first enterprises, providing scalable infrastructure and high-performance computing capabilities, the company said.
Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce T.R.B. Rajaa was present during the inauguration.
In a media interaction, Mr. Vegesna said the company is looking to set up centres in cities like Coimbatore.
An official release from the Tamil Nadu government said the memoranda of understanding for the project was signed during the global investors meet in 2024. In the first phase of the project, the company has invested ₹1,882 crore, providing direct employment opportunities for 1,000 people.
The company has stated that by 2027, it plans to invest ₹13,000 crore in Chennai, the release added.
