Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra vs. Galaxy S24 Ultra: Prices, features, and everything you need to know

Samsung’s Galaxy S Ultra series sits on top of the entire non-folding smartphones line-up for the company, not only in terms of top-tier specifications, but pricing too. On Wednesday (January 22, 2025), the South Korean electronics major unveiled the Galaxy S25 Ultra, succeeding the Galaxy S24 Ultra launched in 2024, during the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event.

Samsung has been at the forefront in bringing the latest generative artificial intelligence (gen AI) features to smartphones, collaborating with Google. This year, it’s no different. It has upgraded the multimodal languages to offer more natural AI experiences in the Galaxy S25 series, and at the same time trying to unnerve Apple and its ‘Intelligence’.

However, buyers need to know what upgrades the Galaxy S25 Ultra offers when compared to the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

What has changed

Samsung has finally on-boarded Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite platform with the Galaxy S25 series, available in all the three phones in India, unlike the Galaxy S24 and S24+ that had Exynos 2400.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra display has also been stretched by 0.1 inch to match Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max display of 6.9 inches. The Galaxy S24 Ultra had a 6.8-inch display.

Samsung, being liberal this year, moved from a 12 MP ultrawide camera in the S24 Ultra to a 50 MP shooter in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

What has not changed

The design of both the phones, Galaxy S25 Ultra and the S24 Ultra, remains unhinged.

The battery in the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy S24 Ultra is also the same.

The selfie lenses in both the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy S24 Ultra stand where they were, at 12 MP. Except for the ultrawide camera, the rest of the three rear lenses do not offer any changes.

The peak brightness and refresh rate in both the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy S24 Ultra are equal.

However, there is no price difference between the starting variant of both the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
